In Liska, one of the holiest places on earth, special moments abound as the deep and blessing-laden prayers recited at the grave of the great tzadik, Rebbe Hershele Lisker zt"l, resonate with the faithful.

Through this prayer, we plead for healing for those who are unwell, financial support for the poor, and peace and wellness for Israel and all of humankind. Liska has historically been an important place in Jewish life, especially because it was where the Liska Rebbe established a remarkable synagogue, which was one of the largest in Europe then. Jewish communities keep the memory of the town and the tzadik alive, as many make pilgrimages here to seek blessings in the spirit of the Kivrei Tzadikim tradition.

Known as Rebbe Hershele Lisker (רבי הערשעלע ליסקער) or Zvi Hirsh Friedmann (צבי הירש פרידמאן), this distinguished author of Ach Pri Tevu'ah (אך פרי תבואה) ranks among the great Hasidic leaders, with teachings that continue to inspire his disciples. As a student of the illustrious Teitelbaum Moshe zt"l (משה טייטלבוים זצ״ל), known as the Yismach Moshe (ישמח משה), the Rebbe gained deep insights into Torah and Hasidic teachings. In Hasidic communities, particularly among Satmar followers, the close disciple relationship remains significant, honoring the legacies of both Teitelbaum and Rebbe Hershele Lisker.

Hasidic communities worldwide, from Borough Park and Williamsburg to various regions in Israel, deeply respect the town of Liska and honor the legacy of the Liska Rebbe. Recognized as one of the key Kivrei Tzadikim locations, the Liska cemetery is a place where prayers are infused with unique strength through the tzadik's merit. On the anniversary of the Rebbe's passing, or yahrzeit (יארצייט), a multitude of people journeys here to pray and seek blessings for their families and the wider community.
